Congratulations Murrah High School for winning the second annual Battle of the Belt Award at Metrocenter Mall! Murrah received a $3,500 scholarship for a great seat belt presentation, display and school spirit. Callaway High School received a $300 scholarship for coming in second and Bailey Magnet and Forest Hill received plaques for coming in third and fourth places. All of the students that participated received a certificate of honor.

The Battle of the Belt is a competition between JPS based on who can convey the best message on seatbelt safetly. The students did seat belt skits, performances, displays and collected signatures as pledges for people to vow to buckle their seat belts.

The Power to End Stroke and Step Show at Metrocenter Mall awards winners! In first place for $500 was Dynamic Divas of the Jackson Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta. In second place for $300 was Archonettes of Tau Upsilon Zeta. And in third place for $200 was Sigma Beta Club/Zeta Phi Beta ~ Tau Phi Zeta Chapter.

2009 Go Healthy Challenge is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat. August 1 at Metrocenter Mall at Center Court. Join the American Heart Association and Metrocenter Mall for the 2009 Back-To-School Go Healthy Challenge! Kids will complete fun, healthy, challenges to receive a free backpack with school supplies and other cool prizes!
